The Miraflores' Community Development Center opened on November 27, 2009, offering a brighter future to the families of Miraflores.

With a very joyful ceremony, Bupa, the Martha Estrella Foundation, and the community of Miraflores inaugurated the "Community Development Center" that will serve more than 600 people in the area, who live below the poverty line, bringing significant improvements to their healthcare, nutrition and skills development.

This amazing accomplishment, that started as a wonderful dream back in the Summer of 2008, by a small passionate team -- Andre, Stephanie, Nick, Dan and Jorge. 

The project constitutes a key milestone for the Martha Estrella Foundation, as it represents a model of what we can do to help similar communities in need, which are eager to improve, but lack the resources to do it. 

Martha Estrella would be so proud of how we have been able to support the Miraflores community with this state of the art Community Development Center, sponsored by Bupa.

The Center has the following equipped facilities:

• Nursery room for 25 children from 0 to 5 years old
• Dentist's office, including x-rays
• Doctor's office, including ultrasound
• Computer lab with Internet access
• Community cafeteria and conference room
• Volunteers' rooms 

Thanks very much to Bupa for believing in our young, but very passionate Martha Estrella Foundation, in the people of Miraflores, and for enabling 120 wonderful volunteers from all over the world to make such an impact across the entire Miraflores community.

Even prior to the opening of the Community Development Center, we already started to transform the community, growing almost three times the number of students of the “Juan Amador” elementary school from less than 30 students last school year,  to almost 80 students this school year, after renovating and expanding the school infrastructure.
