What We Do

The Martha Estrella Foundation (Fundación Martha Estrella) works with poor communities in Ecuador finding lasting solutions to improve the social conditions of children in need during their first 12 years of life.

Through a range of programs, based on participative and voluntary work, the Martha Estrella Foundation seeks to give children equal opportunity to develop their potential and become future leaders of their community.

Our Mission

We are a non profit private organization, legally constituted, based in Machachi, Ecuador, dedicated to manage, support, coordinate, control and facilitate projects and programs in the areas of preventive healthcare, nutrition, humanistic education, and children rights application in order to achieve quality life improvements for children in need and their families in an environment of communitarian and voluntary work based on respect, honesty, friendliness, non discrimination and freedom.

Our History

The Martha Estrella Foundation started in 2004 as a family effort, with the mission to continue the legacy of Martha Estrella, who, during more than 10 years work as a volunteer managing and developing the state childcare centers for the children in need in Machachi and its nearby rural communities.

After 12 years of dedicated and persistent effort, Martha was able to develop and sustain 5 centers providing care to more than 200 children, working as a true leader of the community with the support of tireless volunteer mothers.

In 2007, the Martha Estrella Foundation was legally established in Ecuador, officially approved by the Ministry of Social Wellfare, through ministerial agreement No. 0738, published on January 3, 2007.
