About us
The Martha Estrella Charity Foundation aims to promote and ensure human rights for individuals of all ages; with special focus on rights related to integral health care and nutrition, education and culture, recreation and sports, to live in an appropriate family and community environment, to social participation, to freedom and dignity. Through a range of programs the Foundation seeks to improve the social and economic conditions of vulnerable communities, and offer children equal opportunity to develop their potential and become future leaders.
The Foundation started in Ecuador in 2004, as a family effort to continue the amazing social work done by Martha Estrella, who served as a community leader, for more than a decade establishing and managing children development centers in several rural communities living below the poverty line, and who inspire and develop thousands of children for more than 30 years as an elementary school educator.
The Foundation was officially accredited in Ecuador on January 3, 2007 as a non-profit organization dedicated to develop sustainable programs to improve the social and living conditions of vulnerable communities in Ecuador. On March 15, 2011 the Martha Estrella Charity Foundation was accredited as a U.S. non-profit organization, obtaining 501(c)(3) status, as a public charity.
